Brenda (Goodwin) Sanford

With deep love and sadness, we announce the passing of our mother, Brenda “Mama” Goodwin Sanford, on November 17th, 2025. She passed peacefully surrounded by family.

Mama was known for her unconditional love, her quick humor,her dedicated faith in the Lord Our Father, and her ability to find the best in every person and every situation. Her happiest moments were spent with family, and she brought light, laughter, and strength to all who knew her.

She is survived by her children, Hoa Loung Vo Jr. of Rockingham, NC, and Amanda (Mandy) Vo and spouse Aaron Juarez of Fishers, IN; and by her grandchildren (Angels), Nathan Vo, Ava Juarez, and Ari Juarez. She is also survived by her siblings: Libby McDonald, Diane Adams, Frankie Croom, Elaine Gibson, Donna Huntley, Leroy Goodwin, and half-siblings Roy McLeod and Bill McLeod, along with many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Edna Goodwin Lundy; her sister, Laura Lynn Goodwin Crook; her nephew Lonnie McDonald; her nieces Jennifer Lynn and Carrie Ann Arnette; and nephew “Little” Jim Brown .

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, November 22, 2025, at Shinning Light Freewill Baptist Church, 127 Calvert Street Rockingham. Interment will follow in Northam Cemetery. A viewing and visitation will be held from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Friday, November 21, 2025, at Shinning Light Free Will Baptist Church. A visitation will also be held one hour prior to the service. 

We will always carry her love with us.
